Happy New Year Eve

Haha... going to be 2008 soon...but i have been spending this few days rather sick.... having a very sore throat... and abit of fever and headach...

I guess all this came after my very hectic weekend....

First of all, last Friday, i went for my life saving course training, followed by night cycling with the SHG and some of their classmates...
The group having supper at Blk 85... having Ba Chor Mee... taking a break...

Following that... after sleeping for 1 hour after coming back... i went to work... had a project in the morning, that lasted till noon, and carried on with going to carry stores... which lasted until the afternoon...
After that, i went home to sleep for another 1 hour or so, and set off to VS for the VS BBQ....

The leftover group.... only remembered to take a group photo after some of them have left...

And i guess the effect of all these really took it's toil on me... haha....

And so... i basically spend this few days resting...can't do much....

I wasn't really that bothered with the countdown actually... in fact..i was busy hitting others on FaceBook warbrook during the countdown.... expectedly... not much people were online... and so i got to hit to my heart's content, without fear of getting retaliated immediately.. haha...

I guess.. being single... it doesn't really make much sense to go for these types of events... countdown... Christmas and stuffs.... and i am cool with it... i get to rest more... more time for myself....haha..

Darn... shouldn't keep harping on this issue...

Anyway... yup... so that's my very boring New Year Eve activity...

The S5 strikes again...

I guess this is what happens when you get a new gadget... you fiddle with it all day long... ^_^
But still... this is a rather poor quality picture taken... no prize for guessing... by my N80...
Haha... will upload some shots from the S5 some time...

Ho Ho Ho~~~ Ha Ha Ha....

Ok.... yup.... Ermm...

Well.. i'm not really one to celebrate Christmas... but i guess i don't mind the sale that come with it.... ^_^
And this was what i go today.....

The Almighty... Canon S5 IS.... ^_^ (taken with my N80... so the quality not very good... and irony huh? Take picture of a camera with a camera phone.. haha)

The package was $699.. but i added a tripod, and got everything for $729... i would say it's quite a good deal man...
Got quite abit of freebies... 2X 2GB SD Card, a set of rechargeable batteries, cleaning kit, canon camera bag and a card-reader mouse...

Hmmm... had always wanted to shot with a tripod... like very professional like that... haha
Anyway, with it, taking a portrait of everyone would be so much easier now...

There's a funny encounter to how i ended up buying it at AMK though... at this shop beside Jubilee...
I was introduced to a few websites by Xiao Shen... and this shop happen to advertise their product on their website on a screen shot of their phamplet....
And so... upon some a closer inspection from zomming into their small picture... i was sure i saw the price advertised was $499.... and the next cheapest shop sold theirs at $630... both being reputable good and cheaper shops...
And so... we went to check out the $499 shop, which was the one at AMK... and after checking with their sales person.... well... we realised we've been duped.. or sort of... because they only have 2 packages for the camera... $630, and $699....
I had wanted to take out my saved picture of their advertisement in my HP to show them the proof, but after hearing from them it's a island-wide Canon Christmas sale promotion... well... i guess it is selling the same everywhere... and this price is actually more reasonable...

So well.. give it to them lor... come all the way liao.. might as well...
But i'm pretty sure it's a tactic they are using man.. lure people there...

And so... we just bought it... in a way.. it's better.. because the boss is there... and so he actually did make it up to us somehow... he changed our rechargeable batter set twice, from a lousy, to a better, to another better one... haha...
Not sure why he did that... we did initially ask if we can trade in and reimburse for a top-end battery rechargeable set... but they didn't allow that...
Hmm... so i guess the boss did it out of goodwill... and also for cheating us there... -_-"

But well.. i guess it's a very good Christmas gift... for myself, and for the boss...
He seem very happy when we decided to buy the camera... giving out a very genuine happy smile while serving us... i think maybe his business haven't been good recently.. and our purchase is a big boost... haha...

Oh well... Christmas is not about receiving gifts... it's about giving... so i'm glad i can make him happy too... haha....

Nothing special today... called up VS and sent an email to them regarding the BBQ... hope i can still can use the place for either this Saturday or next Saturday...waiting for a reply from the principal...

So.... if it is successful... then i think i will have to change the venue and time again... haha...

I think alot of people are going to hate me for it man.... Sianz....

I initially had the idea to contact the school directly over it, after the complications issue... but i couldn't find the school email and contact number on the school website... and after some enlightenment from TYS last night... i found it at the MOE website.... -_-"
And so... i got to task immediately today...

In a way... i do hope it is still possible for this Saturday.... it would be perfect to have it at VS, before the new year starts man... everyone can still party and stuff....

Well... hope for the best man....

I also sent my registration for my Japanese language course today... if everything goes smoothly.. i should be starting class in January next year....
Was standing behind a Japanese man and his young daughter while at the Post office... overheard their conversation.... and the daughter was speaking such fluent Japanese.... cool man...
She is only like 4 years old... but her vocabulary is so good.... Wow....
Wondered if i will be able to reach that level.... haha...

Went AMK hub NTUC just now... bought the "cow horn" for my bicycle... not sure what it is called... i fixed the thing up on my bicycle just now... and now it is all so cool... haha...
Quite expensive though.. $20+...
I also bought 2 metal rods to be fixed onto the back wheel for people to stand and stuff... but the bad news is... it's the wrong fitting.. so i am doing some modifications to it... hopefully by tomorrow i can get it to work....

Hmmm... that's about all that happened for my Christmas Eve... yep...

Start of my Break.....

At long last.... a break... though it's only 1 week long... but still... it's a break...

It had been a rather special 2 weeks before this... because i was spending it alone most of the time... my parents are not around... and my brother is in Cambodia doing some volunteer work.

And basically... i had the whole house to myself.... haha...

Well... it's not exactly a bad thing... afterall.. i'm used to being alone at home... but it's kinda been some time since i'm all alone...

Anyway...made used of the opportunity to invite the MK team over for movies and steamboat... haha... been some time since we last gathered...
In fact.. for 2 weekends... haha.... chiong movies and eat.... and just yesterday... we even played basketball... something we didn't do together in like years ....

Anyway...that's about the highlight of the 2 weeks.... the rest are spent in school... same old boring stuffs....

This two weeks alone kinda makes me realise something about myself... i don't mind being alone... haha.... though there is the occasional silence.. and feeling of emptiness...
Once in a while, just get some friends over... and it'll be gone....

Hmm.... think it would be a good idea to go out and live alone next time... my time.. my rules...

I was also organising a BBQ for my batch of Victorians this coming weekend... together with Xiao Shen... and suppose to be in collaboration with my former form teacher.... but apparently... things didn't go as smooth... had wanted to do it in VS... but due to some complications with the teacher... well.. in the end.. it wasn't possible for that to take place.
The worst thing was, the notice came at such a late time, and i couldn't manage to get a place in East Coast Park for it....
Well... it was partially because i had to spend some time discussing about it with Xiao Shen and the teacher... and ended up with no more places available...

After much deliberation and discussion, we finally decided to postpone it instead... to the week after next... and got the pit at ECP.... couldn't get VS too because of the same complications...
Actually... it wasn't a case of "cannot get"... but rather, a case of un-confirmation... and so to save the trouble, i booked the pit first...
So in the event there is a last minute authorisation, we can just move everything over... ^_^
Well... that is the just-in-case plan.... but meanwhile... it will still be at ECP....

Haiz... feeling rather vexed because of this complication.... but what to do~~~

The response so far hasn't been very good.... but still.. the show will go on.... with or without anymore people... because i know that i have a group of friends who will always be there for me man.... ^_^
That being said... i will make sure the BBQ goes well despite the odds...

Hmmm... some great consolation for myself... haha....

I just realised i've actually learnt some life lessons from this man... sometimes... it's really better to depend on yourself... things may had gone smoother that way....

Trust... is such a variable....

Heok Kia's Birthday~~~

And finally... the remaining member of the MK Team turns 21... our dear Heok Kia... haha...

Well.. actually he turned 21 about a month ago... but chose to celebrate it 2 days ago, after his exams i guess...

And here we have it, dinner at Jack's Place at Ang Mo Kio... it was a small gathering .. because Heok Kia don't have much friends...^_^
Kidding... haha.... well... smaller group, more cosy.. haha...

We had a great dinner... in fact... i should say i had a really great dinner.. because it has been very long since i last ate at a restaurant... and i would say the food was rather good... i ordered a combination not found on the menu... Chicken and Catfish combo....
The chicken was great.. but the fish was rather fishy... i mean... has a fishy smell..
But it was great overall...

We went on to the GrapeVine after that... somewhere in Hougang... i was driving.. so i onyl drank some juice there...
The ambiance of the place was quite good i would say.. open air pub of sort... i think it's a very good business venture to open a bar... where people just come and chill... drink... be merry...
Furthermore, this was open air.. save alot on air-con bills....

Hmmm.. idea man....

Anyway... we chilled there for awhile.. chit chatting... then i sent them all home... it was a nice occasion... abit of rain here and then.... and it's been some time since we last came together ... haha

The only problem... was that i reached home at around 0200 in the morning... and i have a class the following morning... i drove my Pincanto, which means i have to wake up at 0600hrs... and so ... i was busy slapping myself in my afternoon class to keep myself awake... haha

The morning class i can still hold on to my senses... but after lunch... gone.... tired like banana...

Hmm... some updates of myself here...

I just completed the a SPCA volunteer form... decided to do some volunteer works for the animals... specifically dogs...
I have always liked dogs, but my mum don't allow me to keep one, so i guess i'll go help the stray dogs... but i am choosing an easy task... walking the dog... we'll work from there... haha...

I just booked my IPPT as well... on the 26th Jan 2008... going to train for gold... $400.00...

Wanted to confirm my Japanese Language course, but i forgot to check out the community center near my house... they are offering the language too... but i'm not sure in what level... i'll check it out tomorrow...

Hmm... so far... school's been manageable... still working towards my goal...

My archery job has stopped for now, but it will continue next year... and i am going for a archery course next year January, 3 times a week.... so i am going to be quite busy..

Hmm... think that's about all.... yep....

I've done it!!!

Yep.. after around 7 hours of grueling mental and physical battle.... here's the result ...

Well... i would admit i took rather long... haha... because i was fast walking for like about half the total distance, because my leg was so cramped... i could only run for awhile before the cramp sets in.... so i ended up running and walking...before turning to fast walking... since i can't run...

Sort of reminds me of my Tekong 22km run.. same issue with my leg... haha....

But still... i completed it.. ^_^
I was quite proud though... that i managed to maintain a very good pace for the first 16km or so... around 2 hours of running... didn't stop much, except to go toilet or drink.... and i was at the better half of the entire thing...
Well... that is.. until the cramp sets in... haha... maybe due to my lack of conditioning for my leg.. so although my mind can go, leg cannot go...
If i had maintained my pace, i'm rather confident i could finish within 6 hours... which would have been good...

Oh... it doesn't actually matter that much... what's more important is i completed what i started.. never giving up..

Oh yar... i met Dong Hai along the way... but soon after that lost him because i was going much infront...

Actually, towards the 2nd half, it seem more like a walk-athon.... everybody's walking... haha...
